3k Compression

Featured Replies

ha all. my frinend and i are working on a a 3k-c and want to know how much we should take off of the head to get it up to 9.5:1 or even 10:1 compression. a stock 3k-c is only 8.5:1.

any ideas anyone?. :hmm:

Ask a mechanic or someone at an engine reconditioning place.

cheers phatke30!

that would be the next best thing but i just don't want him to turn and say no nodo this or na it wont take. SLAPP. i know what a 3k/4k can take.

il go and see a few diferant places ant if thet say something differant all 3 times il just go with the bigest amount taken off and see what happens. BOOOOM.

Call me stupid, but aren't you the person who was going to prove us all wrong with the amount of Hp you were going to get out of a K motor?

Now you want us to tell you how to do it as well?

Dude, take it to a DECENT workshop, they'll do the calculations and get it right. Don't necessarily go with the cheapest option. Mine has virtually nothing taken off the current head, but with the pistons i'm running, it's 10.8:1. I had an old head that had .125 off it. The previous motor had i think about .090 off it and was 10ish to 1 (don't recall, it's been a while.)

You've got to trust someone sometime, and most of them have been at it far longer than you. I have complete and utter faith in the person I use. He's a guru as far as I'm concerned.

What you should be asking is, "hey guys, what machine shop in Adelaide do you recommend?"
