xstatic Posted June 15, 2008 Report Posted June 15, 2008 (edited) howz everyone going??? About a month ago i bought my first corolla, it's alittle less then average as i will describe to you. The biggest problem with it is the rust i have pictures and will post them. The couple of mechanical things wrong with it is the clutch slave cylinder, when it is cold in second it looks like i am bunny hopping but only alittle bit, because the clutch isn't engaging properly. I also just replaced the fuel tank the old one had a crack in it and petrol is to expensive to be droping on the ground everywhere. It also needs the timing done... Cosmeticly is an all new different ball park :lolcry:. The only bit of clear coat on the car is on the front side panels and the bonnet, i guess he ran up the ass of someone and had it repaired. The interior is stuffed you don't sit on the seat, you sit in it, if you get what i mean. The piece of the dash above the cluster has been snapped off i am still trying to work out how. I can't get the smell of dog and whiteox outta the car :y: . My drivers window doesn't go down all the mecernism is worn (i've got the door trim off at the moment). But for some stupid reason i still thinks she good car i get about 500ks off of a full tank which only costed me $66 bucks to fill from dead empty when i replaced the tank. It's also red and red goes faster But what is the best way to get rid of the rust in these places, cause i don't wanna replace the whole panel, can you buy that section and weld it up or something??? JiP Posted June 15, 2008 Report Posted June 15, 2008 Hey, don't mean to be rude but are you sure it woudn't be easier finding another sell and parting this one out? Quote
Kid-Ae Posted June 15, 2008 Report Posted June 15, 2008 Ah, thrown yourself into a good challenge then :lolcry: May i suggest having a bit of a search for another one of these with a rust free body so one is a donor car? May be more cost efficient and easier :y: Quote
roladude Posted June 15, 2008 Report Posted June 15, 2008 Hey, don't mean to be rude but are you sure it woudn't be easier finding another sell and parting this one out? to true. you don't want your first experince with a corolla to be a bad one. :lolcry: Quote
Kid-Ae Posted June 15, 2008 Report Posted June 15, 2008 Looks like a bit too much rust to have a go at unless you are 110% committed to this particular car. Either way, these cars are great as a learning tool Enjoy :lolcry: Quote
xstatic Posted June 15, 2008 Author Report Posted June 15, 2008 I thought about doing it there was a 85 seca u pull it with a completely rust free body to bad it was light blue and looked like a fish bowl. But the interior has been trashed. the reason i bought that one was i need a car asap i wanted a seca and found that one $700 with 2 months rego near new tyres and mechanical sound (except for the things i have said before) I seen these things on the net somewhere for a hiace van that was just the rear wheel arch and 100mm coming up so you can cut the arch off weld that on and respray. Might be easier to leave it cheers scott Quote
Johno Posted June 15, 2008 Report Posted June 15, 2008 2 months reg....? Get the rust fixed asap!! then get a rwc from a mate and get it in your name or if you know the people real well then give them the money to get another 12 months reg on it now then you got all the time you need and you don't have to stuff around with going to vic roads, that's if your from vic.. Where are you from? Oh and by the way, Welcome to rollaclub! Hope you love it as much as i do Quote
xstatic Posted June 16, 2008 Author Report Posted June 16, 2008 (edited) naa mate SA no roadworthy here.. we only get done if a cop pulls us over and defects us depanding on the defect, minor defects aka bald tyres cracked windscreens you get cleared at the cop shop big defects like structual rust you have to go over "regency" it sends shivers down anyone in sa's spine that name... taking pictures of my car later on so you get a better idea of what it is like, not just a rust bucket.. cheers scott Edited June 16, 2008 by xstatic Quote
