This is a kind of serious vent/rant.... for those of you that don't have heath insurance or ambulance cover (usually ambulance cover is included in health insurance).....

I understand that not everyone can afford health insurance, but for about $40 a year you can get ambulance cover (and save yourself a $600 ride in an ambulance).

Here's the thing.... late last year, my friend had an asthma attack and had to go to hospital in an ambulance. He didn't have ambulance cover or heath insurance.. fair enough, he couldn't afford it. I mentioned that for a measly $40 a year he could at least protect himself if it ever happened again... we never spoke about it further...

Today, he had a non-motorsport-related accident had to go to hospital in an ambulance and has spent the last 7 hours in surgery...whilst paynig the bills is the last thing on his mind, eventually he'll have to pay...I hate to think what his hospital bills are going to be, and being off for the next 3-6 months with no income is going to suck big time, and make a difficult situation more so....

think about getting health insurance, or at the very least ambulance cover, when the worst happens, at least you'll have some peace of mind.....when you're injured and can't work, the bills don't stop coming.....and you have the added cost of recovery....

Yes, if you're in a motor accident the ambulance is free...I won't debate that.... just THINK about getting insurance if you don't already have it...you have to take care of yourself!

end of vent/rant...

I don't have it, but will be getting it due to the dental cover I'm going to need.

As it is, its costing me $385 outta my own pocket to get a broken tooth surgically removed.

WoW, I'm grateful that I live in Queensland. With the amount of times that I've had to ride an ambulance to the hospital, I'd owe alot of money.
