Teddy Posted August 2, 2008 Report Posted August 2, 2008 G'day. Depends where exactly the head gasket has blown. If its between an oil gallery & a cylinder, its going to burn oil like crazy & possible glaze up one of the bores. It will get worse. Should you drive on a blown head gasket? not really. What diagnostic points have led you to believe that its the head gasket at fault ? Quote
philbey Posted August 3, 2008 Report Posted August 3, 2008 Yeh, what makes you think you have a blown head gasket? I had a suspect HG on a CA18 turbo for months, but it was only when I started getting frothy water that I bothered with the fix. Still drove it like that for a while anyway. No water in the crank case or any of that. Quote
WinKE55 Posted August 3, 2008 Report Posted August 3, 2008 Changing a head gasket on a 4k isn't that hard my friend.. Give it a try :) Just mark the bolts if you have to, and when you are tightening the head down, make sure you tighten the bolts from the middle then work your way out on each side. Quote
adam-__- Posted August 3, 2008 Report Posted August 3, 2008 Is the oil milky? If it's milky, water has gotten into the oil and it's highly recommended that you don't drive it. The oil no longer lubricates properly and could kill your motor. Quote
