I know this is entirely the wrong forum, but my tow ute is a nissan/datsun 720 ute and I am having a problem with the oil pressure.

When I start it cold it usually has the oil light on for 3-4 seconds, as for late it stays on for a good 10 seconds.

- The oil is relatively new and clean

- filter was changed at the last oil change

- Oil is GTX2

- engine is 230000km old and never been opened for work.

- Oil consumption is about 1L to 2000km, not smokey or anything I think she is leaking a little.

Is this a sign of engine wear, or a faulty sender unit or something? Anything to really fuss over?

Other than that it drives reallt well still, no abnormal noises, always gets us to where we want go go scab another rolla from with the trailer.

Having some wierd electrical probs wth the taillights but otherwise all is good apart from the oil light.

Cheers to anyone that can shed some light.

To be honest, I don't know, I will look tomorrow.

Such a reliable old thing, we took it to melbourne a couple of years ago to get my ke26 (1200km round trip) wagga to get my ke20 (250km round) then off to brissy recently to help somone move up there (can't remember the exact km's but well over 2000km round).

One day we should get a 5sp for it instead of the 4, the poor thing on the highway at 110 was revving its guts out.

if your really concerned, wack a cheap oil pressure gauge on it, but I'm guessing its just a crap filter.

if its not a ryco, pull it off, put a ryco filter on and see what changes
