Chuck me a PM Trav... work something out. What the coils worth? I got it about 2 years ago complete with dizzy (pricey) with hopes of putting it in my Old hilux with a 18r in it. but sold ute.

sorry to dig up an old topic but its better than posting a new one if i can help it.....

 

ive just gotten a KE70 but it has a bosch GT40 std replacement coil with resistor and ballast and that shizzle which has now died but it also has a IC+E electronic dizzy.

 

what coil should i be runnning? bearing in mind its a 11:1 compresssion, big cammed and 32/36 webered ex speedway motor that turns to 8000rpm.

I'm assuming a HEC right?

 

its going in for a tune on Tuesday and i don't want any spark issues on the dyno so i wont be going with another GT40 cause it appears i have the wrong setup judging by what is said in this thread.

 

If so how do i wire it up and what stuff do i get rid of?

Will my tacho still work? if not how do i get it to work, just a std tacho dash.

come on guys someone got to know what it is i'm after... The cars going in for a tune tomorrow...

id say hec coil, remove ballast resistor like they said and make sure you have an ignitor for the elec dizzy, hope that that answers your question

umm ok i think i have my head around most of it.... but what exactly is a ignitor?

 

and hows it work?

 

cars just going in for a tune without any special coil for now, can always take it back for touch up later...
