ok, well i bought a 4k with a 5k elec dizzy, do i need to change my coil or can i leave him the same as stock one??

 

Need help urgently? and if i do need to change it what do i change it to?

Go to a wrecker and get yourself a High energy coil or at least a Medium energt coil :P

 

It will work with the standard one but you aren't getting the full potential

you could take of the ceramic ballast resistor maybe. but just goto the wreckers and grab a coil of car without points. I'm running a Bosch GT40 High energy coil on my ute which has an electronic ignition. Ive heard they are very good coils, havent had a problem with mine.

 

just a note, i know with Bosch and maybe other high energy coils have a part number starting with HEC (stands for High Energy Coil :P)

I had a MEC running it and it cost me $20 from a wrecker, I think it was from a Falcon or something

You must use the correct coil to suit the distributer, Taking the ballast resistor off one thats meant for a points system will slowly kill it.

When I got my 4KEU electronic dizzy, it came with an Echlin coil that needed a resistor, that worked perfectly fine...agree on the Bosch crap though, Denso stuff is heaps better

I got a coil that came off a RA60 celica, had Electric Dizzy.

 

Not sure if that coil would suit you, but ill check to see if its a HEC later and ill pm you if you interested. Just pay postage and she yours.

sounds good man. so long as its a hec, if you can find out the brand of it as well that would be tops.
