5k Electronic Dizzy Wiring

Featured Replies

Picked up a 5K electronic dizzy on ebay recently for just $ 50.00 in excellent condition. It is a Nippon Denso unit with 5K-C on the Toyota label on it. It is the electronic dizzy with the ignitor built-in.

The plug to it has only two connections. One presumably goes to +12V ignition & the other to the +ve side of the coil. One wire is black with a red stripe on it, the other is black only. I presume the red stripe is +12V ignition & the black one goes to the coil. Can any one confirm, who has a 5K wiring diagram, showing the electronic dizzy connections ?

Does anyone know of the original 5K coil primary resistance specs ? What other low resistance primary electronic coils has anyone else used sucessfully with the 5K-C electronic dizzy ?

Any insight by those who have trod this path before, would be of great assistance.

:P

The two wires coming out of the dizzy are positive and negative. The black with a stripe is the positive and goes to the positive terminal on your coil. The black wire is the negative, and that wire connects to the negative terminal on your coil. Nice and simple.

I have the exact same dizzy on my 5K.

The coil i use is a scorcher brand which cost me $70. Its designed specifically for use with electronic ignitions.

If your in Melbourne, i can give you the address of the ignition specialist i bought it from.

The bushes on the shaft were worn (which is common considering the age of the dizzy) and so i had my dizzy reconditioned and recurved to suit my motor which cost me $150.
