Ke30 Rear Axle Shafts Removal

Hello, is the shafts held in place by a c-clips or something inside the differential? Or is it supposed to just slide right out when I pull them.

I have removed the 4 14mm nuts inside the drums.

 

And a question about swmotorsport:

These ramtubes link. Will "Ram Tube - Suit 40DCOE (Genuine)A$ 59,00 (inc)" fit a 2tg with standard mikuni/solex carbs and do they come in a pair?

Once you've removed the axle retainer bolts all thats holding it in is the bearing - which is a tight fit.

 

Use a wheel or a reverse drum (if its loose enough) and sit it over the wheel studs. wind on some wheel nuts bvut only by a few threads so the wheel/drum can slide back and forward.

Use the wheel/drum like a slide hammer and try and pull the axle out.

 

Once you've got the axle out of the diff tube, wiggle the backing plate over the bearing and remove the whole axle.

 

When reasembling, you might need to give the axle some "persuasion" to get it to seat back in. Make sure the spline is all lined up though befor you go bashing it with anything. :lolcry:

Thank you, I'll try the reversed drum thing. Never would have thought about that.

Is there any seals around the axle that's likely to get damaged when pulling it out?

axle oil seal, goes behind those 4 bolts, but usually it should be ok, if its not just repair it with gasket goo

Nah its an o-ring on the bearing and I haven't damaged one yet. :lolcry:

Got them out today to change my diff. The car now pulls on both wheels.

 

Anyone who knows about the swmotorsport questions?
