bezender Posted November 24, 2008 Report Posted November 24, 2008 (edited) hey guys, just bought the blue ke36 wagon that was for sale on here. the stock carby just does not cut it (plus its leaking fuel on the exhaust housing of the turbo :P ). i have had a bit of a search on here but did not come up with much.... its upgrade time, and i was thinking of putting on a 32/38 weber. I realise that they were designed with a 1.8 - 2.0 engine in mind, but with a bit of boost i am hoping it would be up to the task. any input that anyone can put in is much appreciated :D cheers carl :edit: it has a T28 turbo Edited November 24, 2008 by bezender Quote
Taz_Rx Posted November 24, 2008 Report Posted November 24, 2008 Dare say its leaking fuel because it hasn't been all sealed up for boost or a gasket has given way under boost. I was successfully using a DTMR-A weber off a Fiat 128 Sport L, also the same carby on a Fiat X19 (little ferarri looking things). Loved boost from the get go with no mods. Only thing I did to it was replace the needle and seat with a bigger one from a falcon weber (swap straight over). Ran up to 20 odd PSI (boost guage went to 15psi) on that carb and never had an issue with it. Sold that turbo kit and its still getting around in another corolla. :P Have a look in the first couple of pages of my Tar project thread (Si's 5KTE KE55) for pics of that carby. :D Quote
bezender Posted November 24, 2008 Author Report Posted November 24, 2008 its leaking fuel cos the top part of the carby is warped. not worth getting it rebuilt. love the ned kelly airbox :P its gold. i'll go with a 32/32 then seeing as it went well with ur td04... did you get any flat spots with that setup? Falken_KE30 Posted November 24, 2008 Report Posted November 24, 2008 32/36 weber would be fine... Quote

I had the weber on my car for a couple of years befor doing the turbo conversion, and as the Fiat 128 (my bro had a couple) is a 1.3lt jetting was nearly spot on to start with. The Fiat would rev to about 8000rpm though, so this extra fuel came in handy for the turbz. After fitting the TD04 I had it dyno tuned to make sure everything was ok. Small amount of re-jetting and the AFR's were a lot better (was a bit rich befor hand). Can't say it every really had much of a flat spot though!!! Quote
bezender Posted November 24, 2008 Author Report Posted November 24, 2008 awesome, cheers taz rx. I'm gonna go lurk on ebay to find a weber now next step is to put a smaller exhaust housing on the turbo so it can spool up quicker :P Quote
Taz_Rx Posted November 24, 2008 Report Posted November 24, 2008 Deffinately!!!! :D with a .48, fourth gear 60kmh roll-on - started bosting at 2500rpm and 10psi at 3500rpm. They inhibit top end flow a bit though. Does it still have a stock cam? if so that and a .48 would make for a torque monster like my old CT12 setup. Just spin it to like 5000-5500rpm, grab another cog, and back in your seat you go again. :P Quote
bezender Posted November 24, 2008 Author Report Posted November 24, 2008 haha yeah, even tho its a daily, i still want it to pin me to my seat like my 32 :P id say it has a standard cam in it, it idles smoothly., should be interesting with a better carby on it Quote
bezender Posted January 11, 2009 Author Report Posted January 11, 2009 hey guys, i got hold of a 32/36 weber from another member on here :( came with manifold adapter plate n all.. have rebuilt it n ready to put it on now. have had a good search thu the site, and have heard of people using the throttle linkage from the stock carby on a weber. can anyone supply pics/instructions, or any other good solutions? cheers  Quote
bLinded_ Posted January 11, 2009 Report Posted January 11, 2009 I used the stock linkage setup with my old 32/36. Basically get a welder and use your imagination a bit. All I did was use the stock throttle wheel and mod it so it fit onto the Weber shaft, then just made a steel bracket to fix the throttle cable to. I would post up a picture of it, however the Weber and manifold have since given way to better things. Quote
