Morris Is do-able, but not really recommendable. The 18RG is a big, heavy motor for the power it puts out, plus since the R-series never came out in Corollas (came out in Celicas, Coronas and commercials) so things like engine mounts will probably have to be fabricated. If you want to keep it period a 3TGTE would be more appropriate, or if you don't then a 4AGE or SR20 is very common (and the 4AGE much easier than just about any other conversion). As gets said many a time on this forum, just because you have an engine lying around, doesn't mean you should put it in your car. Quote

Would be nice to do something different other than a 4age though. 3tgte's aren't really that common anymore are they? and i'd like to keep it a toyota motor. thanks for your points though, very helpful. Falken_KE30 Posted February 20, 2009 Report Posted February 20, 2009 the RG head wont fit on the RC block... well it will, but think pistons are wrong, some oil galleries, ect ect... just a real headach and cheap/less hassle to buy a complete 18RG Quote
SLW42 Posted February 20, 2009 Report Posted February 20, 2009 i'd agree with the pistons being wrong they wouldnt be the same compression ratio i know the 2tc's and 2tg's have a completly different compression ratio so i can't see why they would be any different!!! Quote
AEMoz Posted February 26, 2009 Author Report Posted February 26, 2009 thanks for ur input guys. Looks like an engine conversion is off the books for a while. Going to look at fixing the cancer and suspension first. Quote
