Mr Hardware Posted April 28, 2005 Report Posted April 28, 2005 Hi All Just a quick question I'm wanting to install/get installed a tacho into my stock standard KE55 I just want a basic cheap one that does the job. Just like the car i suppose. How easy is it? I believe that there needs to be a power lead, ground lead and some sort of information lead from somewhere How is it done? How long does it take? Quote
andrew Posted April 28, 2005 Report Posted April 28, 2005 not long. pretty basic job, and in a '55, should only take at max 20 mins. 1 wire for ground, 1 wire for power on, 1 wire for headlights, 1 wire coming from distributor (pickup to coil neg) Quote
Mr Hardware Posted April 28, 2005 Author Report Posted April 28, 2005 Headlights? Like a backlight so it comes on with the headlights? And where is the pickup to coil negative from the distributor? Quote
kangaroosa Posted April 28, 2005 Report Posted April 28, 2005 The lights wire he was talking about is as you suspected. Its just a wire that you splice into your lighting circuit to power your tacho light, when you turn your headlights on (same theory as dash lights). The signal wire is normally just connected to the negative terminal on your coil. This how its normally done for "points" style ignitions anyway. Quote
Mr Hardware Posted April 28, 2005 Author Report Posted April 28, 2005 i see thanks for your help Quote
