Hey Queenslanders!

Just curious as to if any of yous know if there are any laws regarding cane toads and moving them to other places.

See I want a cane toad. Just one, and to keep it in a cage and not release it and not breed it or anything, I just want one coz they're so ugly and poisonous and all that, but I think it may be illegal, and yes I understand why it would be.

So the question I'm actually asking you is are their any laws to your knowledge against sending one interstate or any laws regarding them really.

I've googled it but not found anything.

Thanks in advance

Yes, Its illegal to transport them by any means, anywhere, unless its directly to a council 'disposal point'

Don't worry, they'll make their way to SA soon enough

I've seen people transport them over the border via golf-club. Basically set one up on a tee, and then bash the living (soon to be dead) daylights out of it with a 9.5 degree driver.

It's polite to yell "TOAD" if it's going to land near the players in front as well.

I've found (after exhaustive alcohol fueled late arvo/early evening research) that a hockey stick is a MUCH more effective launch device.

See, drivers are good... but if you get your angles wrong, your warty projectile can sometimes disintegrate and become significantly less aerodynamic.

A hockey stick is more dynamically forgiving (for novice toad thwackers) and has a larger surface area, thus spreading the initial impact load over more of the projectile. There is a *slight* reduction in flight distance compared to the driver, but more consistency, and the potential for multiple FPV. (Flights Per Victim)

Drivers should only be used by those a bit more experienced. I recommend a 3 wood.

NOW

When you get reeeeaaaally tricky, you can attempt the 'Combo Powerthwack.'

This will require 2 people, a chipping wedge, a cricket bat, and talent.

The technique is for the 'chipper' to locate and stun the projectile by giving it just a wee love tap on its warty noggin.

The 'batsman' will then position himself approximately 3 metres away from the victim, in proper positioning as one would be when on the receiving end of the cricket pitch.

The 'chipper' then sends the victim to the batsman, preferably at about knee-height.

Amazing distances have been achieved through this method, but I do stress it is NOT to be attempted by those less experienced. Bad things can happen...

Very

Bad

Things.

Well, thanks for the interest in our pests.

I don't see why you'd want one and don't care :)
