NWSslider Posted May 5, 2009 Report Share Posted May 5, 2009 hi everyone after counselling with people everyone is saying that i have broken the input shaft as well as the clutch the car starts in gear no clutch doesnt stall and i can change gears with out clutch but the gears don't engage it just sounds like freespin i was wondering how much and what do i have to do to fix the first problem thanks Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

slapper Posted May 5, 2009 Report Share Posted May 5, 2009 If you're not hearing grinding noises (pressure plate etc flopping around inside the carrier), then it's more likely you've done the input shaft. There's no escaping it ... you're going to have to pull the transmission out and have a look. cost? Can't tell until we know what the damage is. I suggest starting it in neutral, looking underneath it while someone lets the clutch out. If the tailshaft is spinning it is not your gearbox and it will be something diff related.
