Broken Input Shaft

hi everyone after counselling with people everyone is saying that i have broken the input shaft

as well as the clutch

 

the car starts in gear no clutch doesnt stall and i can change gears with out clutch

but the gears don't engage

it just sounds like freespin

i was wondering how much and what do i have to do to fix the first problem thanks

If you're not hearing grinding noises (pressure plate etc flopping around inside the carrier), then it's more likely you've done the input shaft.

 

There's no escaping it ... you're going to have to pull the transmission out and have a look.

 

cost? Can't tell until we know what the damage is. You could be up for new flywheel, clutch, input shaft, bearings etc etc ...

but it starts in gear without clutch and doesnt move or stall

and also you can change gears without the clutch

 

but i do not smell any clutch it is a mechanical clutch tho

 

It will still start in gear and not move if you have a broken axle.

 

I suggest starting it in neutral, looking underneath it while someone lets the clutch out. If the tailshaft is spinning it is not your gearbox and it will be something diff related.
