aii2kaii Posted May 10, 2009 Report Posted May 10, 2009 (edited) Hey all Just a few questions regarding the timing on a 4A-FC engine. :) If i was to change the timing, how much would i have to advance or retard the the timing? if i advance it will i get more acceleration? and if i retard it what will it do? any benefits or no benefits from doing any of these? Rolla Boy Posted May 11, 2009 Report Posted May 11, 2009 Advancing will make it go better, retarding will do the opposite... Never done it personally but I think others have advanced up to 10 degrees... In my view it's better to run the engine to it's specs, least you know you're not gunna run into any problems that way... Extra advanve will only make it go better if you up the octane rating of the petrol to match. Agreed on just sticking to the specs though, they're set for a reason. Quote
930LLO Posted May 16, 2009 Report Posted May 16, 2009 Yeah sticking to the spec on a 4afc engine would be the only way to go. If you want abit more grunt try playing with the carb but then it will still run higher. If its running good and you have no problems with it just leave it cause its going to be a bitch if you stuff something up. Quote
