chappo12 Posted May 11, 2009 Report Posted May 11, 2009 i need help ive got a 12a motor and rx7 s2 gear box and i wanted to no if the gear box has to sit 100% level becasue other wise the gear stick will poke out were the hand brake is ke55 with rotary Quote
7shades Posted May 11, 2009 Report Posted May 11, 2009 Don't quote me... but I think maybe the RX4/929 (or some other mazda anyway) gearbox extension housings are shorter? May be a better option than tilting the whole driveline :) Quote
Taz_Rx Posted May 11, 2009 Report Posted May 11, 2009 What exactly do you mean "sit level"? do you want to drop the shifter end down/or up a bit? Remeber you want to keep your drive shaft as straight as possible, and I doubt the rear main seal would work very well if it was nearly completely submerged in oil. Shades is already onto it though. Rx4 4 speeds and S1 rx7's have more of a "KE55" type shifter position while all other rx7 GB's are more of a back-of-the-extension-housing "KE70" position. My first suggestion would be to try and get your hands on a S1 5 speed and try that. Can also always convert to a hydro handbrake!! :) FYI, if there was ever a bible on mazda's....... then Spac wrote it. :) ....... http://ausrotary.com/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=2735 Quote
jus085 Posted July 23, 2009 Report Posted July 23, 2009 Bit late but may be helpful.. I'm doing a 12a conversion in my ke20 and I just shortened the hand brake lever ( very easy to do ) and the motor + box needs to be on an angle anyway because if they are not they don't get sufficeient oil pressure.
