June 17, 200917 yr comment_352946 replaced the rear shocks on my ke35 corolla. noticed while car jacked up, with handbrake up fully on i could freely move rear side drivers wheel..... i could also remove the drum with handbrake on. i take it i need to adjust the drum shoes? Report
June 17, 200917 yr comment_352956 Yes. They're supposed to be auto adjusting, but its obviously not working properly. Maybe double check (by looking at the other side) that everything is were it should be and theres no springs etc missing or detached, or the thread isn't seized up somehow. If its all hooked up properly and still not working then it can be manually adjusted through a slot in the backing plate. While your there you might want to replace the shoes ($20) and the wheel cylinder too if you're keen around $50-80 depending on how much your parts shop like you. 8/ Report
June 18, 200917 yr comment_352960 50-80 bucks! Wow, last ones I bought were 8 bucks a pop.... Another trick that usually works: put your handbrake on and reverse a few metres, it might adjust out a bit. Report
June 18, 200917 yr comment_352968 Yeah they can vary heaps in price depending on what vehicle, age, where you buy them and weather or not you get a trade or "valued customer" discount. I figured if I said $50~ he would be stoked if he walked out of a shop spending less than $20. Remember being in Bursons once and another guy was buying some. Bloke from Bursons said "I can't do them any less than $40 each" and I thought to myself thank god I don't have your car (whatever it was)!!! Report
