MissRolla Posted June 28, 2009 Report Posted June 28, 2009 Hi So, the problem is my mechanic put this enormous carby on my 5k thinking it would be awesome. It isn't awesome. U can't put ur foot down without it flooding. So basically I want to know if this can be resolved at all, or what size/ type of carby would better suit the 5k. I know the current one is a webber of some kind, but I don't know about sizes... Any help/ advice would be great :) Quote
78_7kRolla Posted June 28, 2009 Report Posted June 28, 2009 A single weber 40 or dellorto dhla40 carb should be fine, but it needs to be jetted and tuned to suit. My advice is take it to someone who is a weber/dellorto expert to solve your poblems. Good luck. Quote
philbey Posted June 28, 2009 Report Posted June 28, 2009 My advice would be don't go see that mechanic again. Quote
archangel62 Posted June 29, 2009 Report Posted June 29, 2009 What size weber, get it rejetted.. And avoid using the secondary if it is too big. If you can get a pic of the barrels of the carby we could probably tell you which one it is. If they're both square it's probably 32/36 (better for 5k), but if they're both round and surrounded by a funny oval shape it's probably 34ADM off of a 4lt Falcon, which might not be so good on such a small engine. Felix Posted June 29, 2009 Report Posted June 29, 2009 32/36 (better for 5k) Still too big for a 5k. The 32/36 webers are designed for 1.8-2Lt motors. Quote
MissRolla Posted June 29, 2009 Author Report Posted June 29, 2009 Hey, I've had it rejetted as low as it can possibly go. Not sure about using the secondary... I'll ask the carby guy. Yeah, from what u said it looks like the falcon one. Definately not square. Thanks again for the help, just wanted a bit of info before I went to a specialist and didn't know what I was talking about. Quote
philbey Posted June 29, 2009 Report Posted June 29, 2009 If you're going to close the secondary, you'd be better off with the original carby on it. Quote
