Dirty KP Posted July 6, 2009 Report Posted July 6, 2009 (edited) hi guys I'm a 16yr old teen i live in New Zealand.. I'm wanting some advice on wether to rebuild the 4k in my starlet or drop a new worked 4k or rally 4k in..?? the 4k in it at the moment apparntly hase a race cam..but not sure if it actually does as you can usually hear.. and its running allright at the moment but the previous owner said it has i worn big end bearing.. I'm wondering which would be cheaper and better..ether replace with worked 4k or rebuild the current 4k.. if i was to rebuild the 4k currently in it i would want to work it so it pulls hard for a non turb 4cylinder 1300..does anyone have any advice on what are some good things to work on the engine to make it go hard..(i wana rip past my m8'z 5k starlet) wuld this be easy or shuld i buy a allready worked 4k.?? also when i start it up in the morning it is real cold if i try to reverse out my drive b4 warming it up foe about 4mins it will generally stall.. however my m8 starts his up and reverses out straight away and goes but just keeps at lo revs until warm.. any advice on why mine stalls when cold and my m8'z doesent also one more thing..it currently has a 4speed does any one think i shuld keep the 4speed in or go with a 5speed box..?? thanks guys i relly need some advice on what to do..=] any advice is appreciated.. Falken_KE30 Posted July 6, 2009 Report Posted July 6, 2009 A rebuild wouldnt hurt, just fresh rings and bearings, some gaskets. and a head skim would be ideal. Unsure on the cold start thing, mine is same. have to let it idle for atleast 4 mins before i can drive. Go a 5 speed if you do alot of long distance travel on the Highway. And PS, welcome to rollaclub, and you put this topic in wrong section..... its for peoples rides.. Quote

Taz_Rx Posted July 7, 2009 Report Posted July 7, 2009 Saw that you've posted in the Auto discussion section, which is a bid more appropiate for this question. Just forget about this thread and let it dissapear and continue your discussion in the other thread. Quote
