rob83ke70 Posted August 1, 2009 Report Posted August 1, 2009 Hey I finally got to go and have a play with my new toy, the ke11, this afternoon. The passenger side door wouldn't close properly, it would not be flush with the body of the car when it was closed. Took me a little while to work out exactly what was going on, but I THINK it is under control now. The striker had to move further outwards as the catch was not able to click into the fully closed position. There seemed to be a lot of muck (maybe rust preventative greasy stuff like the tube you get with a tonneau cover kit to be installed on a new proton jumbuck) stuck in the striker hampering it's movement, but I've cleaned that out and now it adjusts ok. The question I have, not having another complete ke1x to compare with, and the workshop manual not being extraordinarily specific, is, when the door shuts, it seems to lift up to go into place. There is no play in the hinges (there was on the driver's side and they are now rebushed awaiting reassembly) and the striker is moved down as far as it can go. I'm guessing this is normal? can anyone with a ke1x confirm this for me? Robert. Quote
camerondownunder88 Posted August 2, 2009 Report Posted August 2, 2009 Hi, When you say striker you mean latch on door or the part on the car that it latches to? When you re-pin your hinges and attach them I put them on the door had top and bottom hinge lose but attached to the car and my bolt the latch locks to on the car in the middle position. Then I shut the door made sure it was square it was crawled into car from other side and tightened up the hinges from the inside takign it slow making sure it was lined up. Now my doors swing nice as and latch perfectly. I also machine up Teflon bushes to re-pin my hinges with and man there nice to swing now. Cheers Cameron Quote
rob83ke70 Posted August 2, 2009 Author Report Posted August 2, 2009 I have brass bushes. The driver's side door is on the vehicle now and is lined up pretty nice (the front guards probably aren't quite 100% right) and it shuts and opens perfectly. The passenger's side door is slightly more problematic, i've adjusted the position of the hinges on the body somewhat and adjusted the striker (part on the car body that the catch latches to) and its nearly right, but the door still seems to move up when it is closed fully. It opens and closes easily enough but doesn't seem quite right and I can't get any more adjustment out of it. maybe the door has sagged slightly or the body has moved? Robert. Quote
Felix Posted August 2, 2009 Report Posted August 2, 2009 How does the door line up along the lower edge? Maybe the striker part on the b pillar needs lowering. Quote
