Hey, havent been on here much but worth a try for a question.

 

I own a ke30 with the stocko powerhouse of a 3k motor with the 4sp behind it. Its my DD. So i need it going smooooth as my 4B Suzy is out of order atm..

 

Now at half throttle she seems to be running abit rough on the road, as in flat spot, bit of smoke (only seen at night in other peoples headlights).

 

Anything before half throttle is normal, anything after half is secondarys? So its the normal whoa feel the power kick..Well slightly. :rolls:

 

Been on a 600km round trip last night..

 

The flatspot dissappears sometimes if i give a kick flat to the floor and back.

 

Would it be timing?Points? I don't know much about oldschool tuning/timing as i've always had efi! (I'm mechanical minded though)

 

Heres a piccy for a looky of Lola and for brag sakes :P

Check points gap/dwell and timing, maybe tappets even, then tackle the carb I'd say...

 

Once you know tuning is OK you can hunt for a problem that sounds like it is leaning out at part throttle. Main jet circuit will be on then, even at low throttle openings, although maybe there is an air leak somewhere that leans it out under high vacuum.. How's the idle? and those rubber vacuum hoses that wander around the place... a split in those might do it.

Ok we'll see what happens atm. Its not that bad, Only more noticable on long distance driving. But i think its getting worst. If that helps. Might hunt for a electronic dizzy :)

What I usually do if a carb seems to be playing up is:

 

Squirt some carby cleaner down it whilst giving the motor a bit of a rev.

 

If the above doesnt' clear it, then give the motor a good hard rev and slap your hand over the top of the carb throats strangling it, pull your hand off before it stalls. Repeat a few times... This nearly always clears the carb of blockages, as it creates a massive vacuum sucking any dirt or crap straight through. NOTE. DO NOT do this if you are experiencing backfires up the carb.

Sounds like that will be the 1st thing i might do anyway. The carb did look abit dirty a while ago when i changed the airfilter.
