philbey Posted October 13, 2009 Report Posted October 13, 2009 For sure. I scored one off ebay for about 75 bucks, it was a steal. It's still stashed in the back seat footwell though.... Must put that on some time soon.... Quote
kE20ME Posted October 17, 2009 Author Report Posted October 17, 2009 far out i completely forgot about this, reading it has got me all keen to lower the little ke again.. i have been doing a bit of research and asking around at the local auto shops, like was mentioned before seems anything pre ke20 doesn't have a listing. i am definatley not going down the cut spring / no spring track... been there before with other old school mazda's and rolla's they handel like shit and its just dodgey. at this stage i think I'm going to run a 2 inch lowering block in the back. and get some custom coilover sleaves and springs for the front and make them up. ..tempted just to do philbey's / scott's mod as i have a set of ke20 top hats lying around... and inch lower at the front may be enough? :jamie: Quote
philbey Posted October 18, 2009 Report Posted October 18, 2009 Do it, it's a piece of piss. Simple as. Incidentally, I notice that lowering blocks are actually legal in south australia! I just happened to read it when looking through the DTEI information page the other day, but you still need the minimum heights etc. Quote
kE20ME Posted October 18, 2009 Author Report Posted October 18, 2009 yep i reckon i will, see how it sits with the ke20 hats in there.. i found them today in the shed... get a set of spacers made up this week, then ill have somthing to do next weekend!! :) good times! Quote
philbey Posted October 19, 2009 Report Posted October 19, 2009 Hey henry, I've got a set of spacers still, I just remembered. I think. I'll have a look tonight for you. Quote
kE20ME Posted October 19, 2009 Author Report Posted October 19, 2009 hell yea philbey!! :) ill hook you up with a 6 pack or whatever for them, save me going to the trouble of getting a set made up!!! Quote
philbey Posted October 19, 2009 Report Posted October 19, 2009 Done. Just found them. Pale ale mate all the way. when you at the pizza shop next, let me know, I'll come past. Quote
ScottKE1X Posted October 19, 2009 Report Posted October 19, 2009 Henry, My ke11 had a double traverse leaf spring at the front. Check out if yours does because I found removing the second leaf and running it on just one, doing the ke20 strut to conversion and cutting 1 coil got my ride height sweet and still handelled quite well. I also had whiteline swaybar to compensate which is a MUST. That being said I think you should go the coilover sleaves... let us know how it goes. Scott. Quote
philbey Posted October 20, 2009 Report Posted October 20, 2009 Double transverse leaf you reckon scotty? What do you mean, like two of the top long leaf, or is it actually just two springs total? I never really looked, just assumed it was a complete pack in there. Did you cut a coil off a stock KE10 spring as well, or off a ke20 spring? Quote
kE20ME Posted October 20, 2009 Author Report Posted October 20, 2009 (edited) Done. Just found them. Pale ale mate all the way. when you at the pizza shop next, let me know, I'll come past. thats awsome philbey!!, I'm in there on thurs night!! cheers for all the info scotty, ill have a suss and let you know how i go! :) Edited October 20, 2009 by kE20ME Quote
ScottKE1X Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 I've found my ke10's have had just one thick single leaf at the front and my ke11's have had 2 leafs in a pack. I seperated the 2 leaf pack and used the main leaf from that pack. when I compared this leaf with the single style from my ke10's it wasnt as thick so it allowed the front to sit lower. I just cut the one coil off the standard ke10 springs. The best way to do that is to wind the coil off the bottom spring perch and cut a little at a time. It'd be best to get a swaybar and do all these mods at once. Also remmeber to only tighten the swaybar bushes up once you've got the car at the right ride height. Make sense?? Scott. Quote
philbey Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 I'm pretty sure I've got the twin spring, might be time for a SLAMMIN this weekend. Quote
kE20ME Posted October 22, 2009 Author Report Posted October 22, 2009 took one strut out last night, some of those bolts were a bitch to undo! looks like i only have one leaf at the front.. :) my strut inserts are long gone though.. probably need to replace them i reckon.. what do people run? majordad in the thread said rx7 ones fit..? might call around and bit today and see what i can find out. Quote
philbey Posted October 22, 2009 Report Posted October 22, 2009 I've got a pair of clapped out Koni's from a 911 that look suspiciously like they'll fit. A new set of Bilstein Sports to replace said item will set you back 300 bucks from the states. Bring your strut to work tonight if you can and we'll do a comparison. TP. Quote
ScottKE1X Posted October 22, 2009 Report Posted October 22, 2009 Give it a crack Tommy! its a bit of a bastard cause you gotta remove the LCA's on at least 1 side. hmm. only one leaf on your henry? wonder what models get one and what get two?? Its possible that if you can source a single leaf from the 2 leaf pack it will still give the desired effect. might have a spare for you. ke30 shocks fit with a spacer. Worth looking into the rx7 option, probably be a shorter stroke. Quote
