Out of interest, since the FE heads run a slave-cam system, any adjustments made to the exhaust cam (the one driven by the timing belt) would be carried over to the intake cam too, which isn't always preferrable. But, would it be possible to make the intake slave-cam gear adjustable too? That way you could adjust it relative to the exhaust cam (and therefore independently relative to the crank), and thus effectively make the engine a proper DOHC?

pretty much what I indirectly said it my last post. It is possible to split and make an adjustable intake gear for the head but its very difficult. To make adjustments then the main gear would have to be adjusted which as you said would change both and then the intake would be independantly adjusted form there, a real shocker to work with.
