beerhead Posted August 29, 2009 Report Posted August 29, 2009 (edited) I'm working on a design for a set of pipes for my 3S / KE70 project. What do you think? Anyone done this kinda stuff before? I'm interested to hear anyones experiences who've run similar motors with both varieties of extractors. :y: Edited August 29, 2009 by beerhead Quote
Felix Posted August 30, 2009 Report Posted August 30, 2009 Seeing as you are building from scratch you should consider 4into1's with an oversized anti-reversion stepped design off the exhaust ports.... Best of both worlds. Quote
KEI069 Posted August 30, 2009 Report Posted August 30, 2009 The 4-1 design is definately the way to go but i have never seen proof of stepped headers offering any advantage at all, except in bracket style drag cars where the header design is set perfectly with engine specs. A proper set of tuned 4-1 will work better on just about every application, you could look at using a merge collector though for maximum horsepower Quote
OniBerserker Posted August 30, 2009 Report Posted August 30, 2009 this is what i have read, it is about k engines but should be applicable, maybe blown5k on club-k (from memory) makes his own extractors. i remember reading that the longer the 2-1 section of the 4-2-1 the more it draws out torque delivery and less power in the top end not sure if that helps at all Quote
kiahn Posted August 31, 2009 Report Posted August 31, 2009 (edited) from everything ive read, if your building something that is going to rev hard then go 4-1 as they have best top end power figures if your using it as a street car only with occassional track use but not pushing it to the rev limiter then go 4-2-1 as they can be easily tuned the same way as what oniBeserker explained P.S i think 4-2-1 look better, got them on my 4age painted black and they look sweet! the top brands seem to prefer the 4-1 design as 4 cylinders are made to rev normally hope that helps Edited August 31, 2009 by kiahn Quote
