There was this site http://www.1uzfe.com/ that featured a build up of a te27 which was getting a 1UZ-FE V8 installed. The car went by the name "The Flea TE27" and its owner installed a rack into it from memory it was from a ke70 cut down or something. But it wasn't just a drop in fit and go, more like measure, measure, measure cut trial fit, measure, measure, measure, cut, trial fit, measure, measure, redo yada yada yada.

Many of those trial fittings was for things like bump steer, steering lock, general suspension movement.

 

So yeah it can be done but it'll take a bit of effort especially to satisfy an engineer for a mod plate

KE2x is a lot narrower in the front end.

 

It is a lot more complicated than just shortening something and bolting it in. If not done properly, it will completely screw up your steering geometry.
