from memory the bonnet has since been painted red

at the time of the black bonnet i had just done the GZE conversion and needed a bonnet to hack a hole in for the scoop. i didnt want to hack my stock red one..

 

since then i crashed the car with the stock red bonnet ( just my luck! ) and was kinda forced to revert back to the bonnet with the scoop... but the panel beaters sprayed it red..

 

this is a pic of the last time i raced the car... and this is how it looks today.

I think the blacked out hood looks cool

but i think the original reason was to cut down glare for race drivers
