  1. white? its a sad shade of silver :jamie:
  2. factory offset is 38 to my knowledge. don't go for anything like 42 or else the only way you'll fit the wheels on the rear is with a spacer
  3. if you're doing the work yourself go nuts. if not the buy something that's already been done. too much money, will be much cheaper to buy a car thats finished. trust me on that one. and also 20v is great fun. nothing better than that feeling after chirping 3rd with 205's... ahh memories. you'd be amazed at the stock power they produce. i went from a smallport and i think its bucketloads of fun compared to the 16v.
  4. just wondering what sork of work the car is going to be doing? daily driver, track car? would be interested to know what sort of power the 7agte is capable of making with the extra capacity.
  5. looking good  would love to see this car in action when it's 100%
  6. just an update haven't been on here for a while, 20v is running well, still needs so minor adjustments. fiarly certain that the AFM isn't 100%. have had the new muffler put on which has helped with the extra flow. lookks a bit ricey but it's better than alkl those cannons people put on the seca's. also have a minor electrical problem which i'm sure is just the connection at the terminal. will look into that this w/e and try another setup with the power cable for the amplifier. on another note the car won an award at toyotafest.. well sort of. the police didn't rock up to judge the police choice award so the judges gave it to someonefitting and my recent stupidity leading to a 6 month suspension was just what they wer looking for. a small consellation for the loss of license i suppose. anyways some pictures of the car with the new exhaust and also down the old pacific hwy.
  7. just some new pics of the engine. you can just see the recaro in the first picture oh yeah the strut brace kinda matches the 20v
  8. well the 20v is great, i have no complaints about the power its got and the torque difference compared to the 16v is amazing, for my style of driving it's all i could have asked for. the acceleration in 2nd and 3rd is great. only really one problem with the engine and thats the fact that the ISCV is stuffed so the car has no cold start which means warming the car up before driving it everywhere. but thats no real hassle since i'll get another one under warranty. for any sydneysiders the car will hopefully be at toyotafest in october so feel free to come on up and say hi. i'm planning to get the new muffler done by then aswell as the current one seems to be quite restrictive at higher revs. i'm guessing it was fine on the 16v since the secondaries were pretty average compared to the 20v ones which are considerably bigger, esp when going over the front crossmember.
  9. i'll second that on the swaybars, just go for the springs and shocks. whilst you're t it get some decent bushes aswell because they'll help out the swaybars. i've got noltec bushes in my seca and it's cornering ability is just amazing. there is almost no understeer at all which is great. you can throw the car into most corners and it'll just pull through. no point in going for superlows if you're after a car thats practical to drive everywhere. i've got lovells equivalent to lows and they are fine. any lower and it'd be a pain to drive around in. superlows probably won't compliment a good suspension setup because you still want a little bit of movement so that the shocks can do thier job. as it is mine is a pretty bumpy car to drive around in. just my $0.02 if i see you before my suspension kicks in i'll take you for a spin in mine so you can get an idea of what i've got.
  10. dunno how it'd look on a hatch macca :jamie: meh either way think it'll sounds nuts with the 20v, i'll just have to make sure i get it engineered with the old muffler
  11. something that'll be a bit cheaper actually.. i've had this idea on my mind for some months now and think that'll look a lot better than all those bloody cannons. need to talk to the guys at the exhaust shop and see what they can do that'll be a little quieter than this due to it not having a muffler. spoke to them a while ago and they seemed to think that they could do it.
  12. well it has been started but just having some issues that shouldn't bee too much hassle to get sorted. i'm amazed at just how quiet the car is now. i've driven it back from getting the exhaust done and it was considerably quiter than the 16v. won't be the case for much longer as i have some plans for a new muffler, although a cannon is the last thing on my mind.... mmmmm twin pipes :y:
  13. just a quick update on the 20v conversion, heres a picture with all the engine bay wiring pretty much done.
  14. i thought we did get that one here? ah well i knew that they were crap from the day my mum got one :D thankfully we sold it soon after hahahhaha
  15. should be there... thats counting on the 20v conversion being finished :(
  16. bahahahhaaha that dash copped it hard :( and yeah from what i can see that sprinter looks awesome.
  17. time for a bit of an update here since theres been some changes to the trolley lately. i've had the recaro fitted and it's great, unfortunately no pictures of it in there yet but all in good time. i've also had my simmons repaired and have them on the car now... well sort of. here was a pic taken a few weeks ago at a dyno day where the car managed a surprising 71.4fwkw. i'm guessing that the 15w40 diesel oil that i added that morning contributed to this. i was expecting a much lower readout than this considering the oil and water usage of the engine. but the biggest change lately has been this..... the 20v is now in the car although theres still some work that needs to be done before its on the road. i'm still waiting on front brakes since the brakes that came with the engine package were warped pretty savagely so i'm going for some DBA 4000's. these should be up to the job of pulling the car up well on the track and on the old pacific hwy. there are more pictures although they are on my mates camera and haven't been uploaded yet. anyways i'm guessing it'll be about another week before its all done. from there i'll be off to the engineer to get it all sorted so i won't have any trouble from the police and also for insurance puposes.
  18. don't sell it you fool!!!! just turbo or s/c it you pansy hahhahaha
  19. man as soon as i saw the pics i was expecting the worst... mate had his car stolen from a train stationj and it was found stripped and burnt. glad to hear its back and undamaged. best immobilisser is if you've got an aftermarket ecu, just unplug it and take it with you. i know a guy with a weapon of a RX7 and thats what he does. i don't park my car at the station for this reason too many f@$kwits in the world, i'm also stoked that i have secure parking at work.
  20. from memory the bonnet has since been painted red
  21. well i bought my rolla because it was good cheap reliable transport that had a bit of go... now i've got the bug and started to modify it... 20v, suspension, recaro, simmons. i know that the car won't be here for ever but in the mean time it's providing me with heaps of fun, racing down the old pacific hwy and hopefully soon at wakefield. ultimately i'm hoping to get another TA22 celica because there is just something about old school cars... when someone who is around 50 comes up and congratulates you on owning an older car which they used to love... just makes you feel great. other than that if i could somehow get an original TE27 i'd be stoked. saww one out at al palmers and was just blown away with the old school look and how tuff it was. but til then the rolla will be my pride and joy, so easy to drive and so easy to modify.
  22. always been a fan of this car, nice and tidy sx, big fan of the interccoler and not chopping the front bumper, keep it looking stock :P
  23. cold weather sucks... but beer jackets are the best in winter :P
