Instigator Posted October 26, 2010 Report Share Posted October 26, 2010 (edited) I think rebuilding the 4AFE is a waste of time and money and I've both rebuilt my 16v and done a 20v conversion. My 4AFE went to the scrapies when I pulled it out and it was still running fine. If you hunt around you should be able to find a 16v bigport for less than it would cost you to stuff around with the asthmatic 4AFE, and it will be better out of the box than what you're talking about. The FE designates that the head was designed for fuel economy. It's never going to be a performance motor unless you throw big dollars at it.
