71-BEETLE-SEDAN
Hi, I own a vw beetle but am working on a 1997 toyota corrolla 3 litre. Its timing belt is loose and needs to be tightened. Is there a tensioner or do i need a new belt. Sorry for the newb questions but ive only worked on aircooled vws. Hiro Protagonist
but am working on a 1997 toyota corrolla 3 litre. You might want to check what engine it has. No 1997 Corolla anywhere in the world has ever had anything close to a 3.0L engine stock, so either it's a typo (either in engine size or car type, could be a Camry) or seriously modified. And we can't exactly offer advice on timing belt changes etc without knowing what engine it is

jnr_13
Hi yeah its a camry, dunno why i said its a corrolla sorry bout that. Does anyone know what ive gotta do with it there should be a little tensioner with a spring on it. losen it off, turn the engine by hand and then retighten the tensioner... otherwise it could be hydrolic tensioner... i can't remember which model has that... hope its a help
