ae95- wagon kid Posted November 8, 2009 Report Posted November 8, 2009 how hard is it to swap a 4afe out of a ae95 corolla what do i need apart from the engine I don't think i could swap it myself so would anyone be interested in a bit of cash for doing a swap cheers I'm in adelaide Quote
.T. Posted November 8, 2009 Report Posted November 8, 2009 so you want to fit a 4age into a ae95 correct?? if so, you need to source an ae93 4age, ecu etc. basically it will bolt onto the ae95 gearbox. you will need to use the donor ae93 front engine block mount (the mount that bolts to the drivers side chassis mount) . you will need to change the clutch plate or fit a 4agze flywheel/clutch arrangement. wiring will just plug up. an easy conversion T Quote

Any estimates people give here could be way over or way under, just depends on what you find in your area. Quote
philbey Posted November 10, 2009 Report Posted November 10, 2009 I've merged your two posts, try not to re-post virtually the same question a day apart. cheers. Quote
.T. Posted November 10, 2009 Report Posted November 10, 2009 ok i can't do this conversion for you as i'm in vic, however it is fairly straightforward. you need to find a written off sx or a motor conversion from a sx corolla. you could get lucky & find one in a pick-a-part for about $200, but you are more likely to have to buy one from an importers for ~$1200. (& then source all the missing bits) then the fitting - if you can't fit it yourself, expect to pay a "professional" around $100 an hour to fit. then to finish it off legally, you should get it engineered - but that part is up to you. depending on the block on your 4ag, you may need to do some minor mods to the bellhousing, later blocks do not need any mods. suggest you look at toymods or twincam etc & see if you can find someone local to you prepaired to help you with your conversion T Quote
Instigator Posted November 10, 2009 Report Posted November 10, 2009 Given the amount of posts you've made asking the same question 3 differnet ways just give it up mate. If you can't even be bothered to do the research yourself you have no hope of being able to complete a conversion. You've been pointed in the direction of KEB11N already who's selling a complete engine/ecu/drivetrain 4agze for $3k. Don't think you will find a better deal for your money than that and if that's not for you then sell the car and buy something else already complete with your "hefty budget". I put a 20v in mine so I know it's not easy. I got a halfcut for $1250 which influenced my decision and I did all the work myself. Expect to pay thousands for a drive in drive out conversion (not including motor to begin with). Toyota quote 12 hours labour just to change a clutch so do the maths. It's not really the best engine choice due to the lack of torque. Quote
