reCOUPErator Posted June 27, 2005 Report Posted June 27, 2005 hey guys my speedo says i'm doin 50 but aparently (acording to other drivers) i'm only doing 40, it has the original size rims 12's ans tyres (i think) 'sr12 155's' does anyone know why this could be out? and how or where it can be fixed? thanks P.s its a 4 spt manual Quote
Redwarf Posted June 27, 2005 Report Posted June 27, 2005 I actualy found that the speedo on my KE25 to be the same. Might be something about age, dunno. Mine was accurate with 13's on it. There are places around that will re-cal it for you, but I don't think they're cheap. Put bigger tyres on it. :P Quote
kangaroosa Posted June 27, 2005 Report Posted June 27, 2005 (edited) If you have changed diff ratios, that will through it out of calibartion. Possibly the spedo gear inside the gearbox is the wrong gear for your combination. The business below manufactures a product (box with gears - i think) that is placed on the back of your speedo and then the speedo cable plugs directly into that. They can mix and match gears within the box to get the correct ratio that will give a correct speed reading. This is tested by a handheld GPS within the car (from what i understand) Unit costs about $250. Redwarf Posted June 27, 2005 Report Posted June 27, 2005 Mother of God! He's already bought the car! :P Budget version is buying a $5 bottle of liquid paper and making new marks at important speeds (60, 80, 100). All you need to do is sus out what speed is what, and mark it in white. Don't laugh. There's is many a rally car out there using this system! Quote
