Hey guys. Few of you might remember the coil igniter problem I was having a while ago. Well thats sorted.

 

ATM, its idles, but barely wants to rev. Coughs, and farts doing it. I unplug the MAP sensor vacuum line and it revs a little better then it does plugged in, but still coughing. Also, unplugging one of the injectors yeilds no difference in idle. It also apears to be getting hot, pretty quickly.

 

Please help. This is driving my brother and I nuts.

Unplugging the TPS made no difference in idle and reving. Unplugging the MAP electrical plug made a huge difference. It wanted to rev as best it could being flooded with fuel lol.

 

Any ideas?

Sounds like too much ignition timing! :)

 

That would account for the back-firing, why unplugging the MAP sensor improves it and the over-heating issue!

Timing is dead on 10* BTDC. (Though, this is not putting a wire in the T and E1 plug things cause we can't find it...)

Your timing might be out a tooth on the cam gears I had the same issue with my 4age and it was the timing, have you checked to see if you are 180 degrees out?

Timing is spot on. The belt was not removed. So, it can't be that.

 

edit: So timing could be out. Just reading around then, and it says I have to short some terminals, and then set the timing to 10* BTDC. Problem is, some DOUCHE bag did the conversion in this, and the wiring. So, I don't know what plugs I'm even looking for. Halp.

You'll never guess. Wasn't the timing (Though, that was out) Wasn't TPS, MAP. Was the coil. Was too small.... For shits and giggles, we put a bigger one on, and it ran sweet.

Me again. Lol....

 

Different kinda issues atm. Having the MAP allows the car to run. Poorly. But, plugging the map back in, it revs up to about 2k, then dies. Replaced with a new MAP. same issue.

 

Really starting to be a bother.

Is the "new" coil "NEW" or is it just another coil? Sometimes it is better to just cut that option out and replace it with a brand new one of the correct type. If replacing the coil before made things better then perhaps all your problems could be coil related. Could also be the ignitor OR something as simple as a bad lead?

It is a brand new coil.. took the original coil to Auto 1 and had the part number looked at and got the exact same one brand spanking new.. So the coil is not the problem anymore.. Could be the leads or maybe something in the dizzy or even the igniter
