I'm a V8 mopar ( Chrysler ) man , but have a 83 ae 71 corolla as my work car . i really love mashing the pedal @ every set of lights . mines a 3 speed auto that shifts real hard & was told it has towing gears from the factory :) . it has a 4ac engine that was rebuilt about 3-4 years ago with new .040+ acl pistons & had a light lick on the ports , & ele dizzy ( that I'm having problems with ) other than that it is stock . i was thinking about regrinding the cam & getting some extractors & getting a new dizzy . & maybe getting the torque converter modified to stall around 2500 rpm . what are your thoughts & any recommendations . I'm not really in love with this car it's just fun . my real love is my big block VF valiant Ute , thats where all my money goes . after typing in 83 corolla into google i was surprised that people all over the world were spending money on these lil Toyota's . well i have one so what can i do to improve it . i have been neglecting mine & thrashing the hell out of it . so i wouldn't mind tidying her up a bit over time & make it look respectable , handle a bit better & beat commodore drivers from light to light :y: or at leased go even better than i do now . how much lift & duration can i get away with ? I'll get valve springs if i need to , what about ele dizzy where do i get them ect . & 2nd hand extractors & would a Webber cab be better that what comes out std ???? . what type of auto box do they run because it's also leaking alot of fluid so I'll fix that first . thanks guys . deadkelly Posted December 13, 2009 Author Report Posted December 13, 2009 easiest way to make it go faster is to strap a rocket to it :) welcome to the club have a look through the rides section to see what other people have done to there 4ac also theres a weber in the forsale section for $180 with manifold/gaskets/air cleaner that was running on a 4ac with a mild cam thanks mate . i have a reco'd 32 / 36 webber & adapter plate for my z 20 nissan motor & new air cleaner ( which i was thinking about puting in my rolla ) . as for a roeket i also have a mopar 318 V8 & 904 rebuilt auto wainting to go in :y: mmmm but i had no idea i could make my 4ac go ok till last night . so if i can just use bolt on stuff & keep costs down that would be much better & leave the $$$$ for my big block . but i'm a single for life type bloke so who knows what could happen . what sort of hp could i expect out of a 4ac with cam, port work , 32 / 36 webber & extractors ??? 100-110 hp ?? Welcome to Rolla club. hahaha i can she's not much chop to look at though , it will just make me guilty of neglecting it :P . all though i did buy it like this 4 months ago , but i haven't washed yet . well i spoke to my m8 about respraying it just the other night . i'll keep it the same color & just tint the windows . it really needs some shocks though & i'm sure some springs would help to ?? ok i just rang the bloke i bought it off & he told me that that thers some mags at his house it i can have . & it has lost about 20% power from the dizy being shaged . he all so said the port job was more than mild , more mid to top end & the head was fully reco'd with new valve guides & springs . the only reson he didn't get a cam was he had to regrind the one out of the engine & he heard regrinding's bad & he needed to rework the stock torque convertor . ( i know regrinding cams ain't that bad ) & i'll get my torque covertor reworked . i'll have to ring dean tighe & see what i can get away with :) . ok the pic's my ae 71 , no. 2 my 12 " sub woofer fully sic & 6x9's & my 2" supper trap muffler Quote
