Hi all

I work for Yellow Cabs y'see, and we've got a few nice taxis coming off the road soon which I'm thinking of maybe buying. To buy one of these, i'd have to sell the Corolla. I was just wondering what the car might be worth?

October 1980 KE55 CS (Square Headlight)

Mechanically Stock

Reconditioned 4K-C

Factory 5-speed, mudflaps, very shiny stock wheels

Canary Yellow (Still very shiny)

Complete 4-Speaker VQ Statesman Stereo with Statesman (tempramental) six-stack cd player)

Near new Dashmat, floormats, weathershield, seat covers, brake master cylinder, accellerator cable, water pump, spark plugs, air filter

Recently tuned, pretty quick for a ke55

Good on the fuel ($9 or $10 per 100km)

Everything works pretty well

Starts first time, every time, even at 4am after sitting for 3 days.

Tyres (175/70R13s) are alright

330,000km since new (log books/owners manual to prove it, currently 5th owner)

Problems: Bit of rust here and there, bit of a bent passengers side front guard/fender, not too bad though. Speedo reads about 5-10km out (within legal 10% margin).

Its a good little car, i just prefer automatic six-cylinders i suppose, especially if they're on LPG.

I'm not asking anyone to want to buy it, but just what you reckon i could get for the car (maybe here, maybe paper, (i don't want a redbook/tradein price, they are too vague for an old car)). If you could give me two figures, one unreg and one with a roadworthy(not fixed rust) and 2-3 months rego, i would greatly appreciate it.

Gee, it seems the canary yellow was quite popular on KE55's. It seems quite a few of the regular posters on RollaClub with square-headlighted 4-door KE55's all seem to have yellow ones.
