Ke 70 Alternator And Battery

Featured Replies

Hey, I was around my mates house the other day and he got me to have a look at his battery on his ke70. The battery was very swollen and it was making a hissing nosie and leaking a little bit of fluid. We took a reading with a multi meter and the battery was reading 16.7 volts. is this due to the alternator overcharging his battery? (he currently isn't driving the car due to he doesn't want to blow up the battery, which is brand new)

sure he didn't get the terminals on the wrong way?

wires would of fryed in a second (done it at work on the forklift LOL)

What ever you do don't smoke near it or get any ignition source on it, Hydrogen is dangerous  :P  just rebuild the alternator and buy a new battery....oh and getting the battery the wrong way round when its charged is bad...when it's dead flat you can actually reverse the poles..but stuff the battery up

this is my car and ive been told its the voltage regulator on the alternator, anyone have or know where i could get one of these

have a look at this http://www.rollaclub.com/faq/index.php?tit...ries/Alternator and determin if yours a external or internal regualted alternator

if its a internal regulated you should be able to remove the 2 bolts holding the reg in and get a replacement regulator (I'm 90% its a internal regulated)

might as well get the full kit, bearings and regulator, theres a place on south road near...umm....Midas......1210 South Road (Cnr Celtic Ave), Clovelly Park, 5042....phone number is Arnold Wischi: (08) 8277-9755. went in there to get mine really easy to deal with, and i'm guessing cause mine is a early 3k yours should be the internal bosch type. Oh and you need a special tool to get the end bearing off the rotor, luckily a hacksaw did the job for me

the alternator was bought new about a year ago and it is a internal voltage regulator, what shops would sell this part

Any auto electrical joint will sell you the pats, like i said midas on south road gave me mine, and if it's only a year old don't worry about the bearings
