i am probably going to swap in a 4age 16v but I'm keeping my options open does the carby version of the 4afe have identical head valve angle etc

 

i can get a cheap one for port polish valves etc real cheap but all of them are the carby version a 4a i think same cam cover etc looks the same

 

 

want the opinion of someone who knows before putting a new modified head only to find it doesn't fit

Check out wikipedia for this sort of info. According to that the F head is narrow valve angle. Generally thought to be better for performance, but there are a few other design features that make it not so good for performance. Depending on what you want to do, it might be better to hold out for a G head.

I was just assuming from his username that he has an Ae95

 

Sorry, I meant to say the Series 2 RVs and Ultimas got the 7AFE, not the late 4AFE, but the heads are essentially the same and the front-end of an AE95 is basically an AE92 Seca with 4WD gearbox and transfer-case.

Yeah found that out when I pranged my old AE95 and replaced the front end with AE92 hatch bits... Those wagons look infinitely better without the bulgey bonnet and gigantic plastic grille.
