hi i have a supercharged 4agze in a ke30 corolla. have a firing problem/starting problem would just like to kno what you guys think could be causing this

as the igniter is in working order and so are both my coils. this is a random happening so it starts and runs fine sometimes but somtime may start and run fine then fir on 3 cyls and then run fine and then wont start after a short stop or sometimes wont start at all could this be a computer problem?? please all feedback would be much appriciated :blush:

yeah it could be the computer, but at this stage it could be a multitude of things.

 

best thing to do is work out what ISNT working, when it starts playing up, and then diagnose whats going on with whatevers not working.

Does it have the diagnostic system connected?

Run a diag and see what faults come up.

your not serious are you? its now the perfect time to work out whats not working BECAUSE its not going!

 

like trev said, do a diagnositc check (search on how to do it). also go back to basics.

 

do you have spark?

 

do you have fuel?

 

does it have compression?

 

are all the timing marks lined up

 

and so on..

i have fuel timing is fine/was fine when it was running last and i have no spark

Check the dizzy/cas wiring as this normally happens:

If the wiring is broken then the dizzy/cas does not send a signal to the ecu and no spark will occur.

thanks trev for your info tis exactly the problem. and mr mopar if you can't give any information thats useful don't bother mate i only come on here to ask questions as a last resorce and hope that people like trev can shed some USEFUL information instead of inplying I'm a retard!

MrMopar was only helping and the process of elimination is sometimes the best way around something.

 

Just do a diag and post up what fault codes come up, The dizzy will be the Ne/G signal which is code:

 

12 RPM Signal

 

* No G or NE signal present for 2 seconds during cranking

* Open G circuit

 

 

 

* Open, short in G or NE circuit.

* Distributor

* ECU

 

13 RPM signal

 

* No NE signal for 50msec at 1000rpm.

 

 

 

* Same as Above

i just reread my post post.. id does sound a little harsh. my appologies. that not how it was intended. but my point still stands, re: process of emimination. remember, we've never met one another, so i have no idea what sort of skills you have. also on your first post you stated it did have working ignition.

 

ae101 ecu pinouts

 

heres a list of pinouts for the ecu if you need to do a continuity check. if you find you have a wiring problem (poor connection, break in wire etc) it can help by wiggling the loom around whilst trying to start the car. sometimes you can pin point an approximate area where the wire is broken by doing this. saves alot of time only having to strip down one area of loom, instead of an entire length.

ok no worries yeh i was prob a lil harsh just not up to speed witht his engine yet and whoever installed it had no clue eg alot of the wires were just twisted together cheers for the help guys ill keep u posted
