  1. yeah i used to use formula ford fronts on my KE25. rears are 14" iirc. wasnt too bad on my car, because it was slow, and not a whole heap heavier than a FF. i wouldnt use them on something heavier like a sev though.
  2. he just bought a roughish AE86 off a bloke on performance forums cheap, and is now trying to resell it with all the drivetrain gear (not even installed) on facebook. thank god his giving up, so hopefully the ae86 doesnt end up like the sev!
  3. theres one at centre rd wreckers in melbourne atm. when i was there a few weeks back it had a really good interior and stuff. only bits missing were pretty much the front hubs.
  4. i was there about 3-4 weeks ago and there were no ae9x's that i remember. but as you would know a lot can happen in a month at the wreckers :)
  5. i disagree. you can learn quite a lot from buying a welder and just laying beads. will give you at least a slight idea about what your doing, so the poor tafe teacher wont have to completely baby you. but i agree on the tafe course bit, absolutely essential if you want welds that have any chance of passing engineer's requirements. its a bit late now, but late last year i bought a cigweld weldskill 250a single phase MIG. its a cracker of a welder for the home hobbyist. uses 15kg spools, euro torch plug, can do aluminium, has all the basic adjustments, and came in under $1k. only thing its missing is the 'inverter', but mine will never leave the shed, so i don't need it :)
  6. install it on the exhaust. make a valve on the exhaust controlled by a solenoid so when you back off the valve blocks the exhaust off.
  7. Mate welding diffs is piss easy if you know how to weld. Drop the crownwheel & carrier assembly out and give it to a boilermaker. Any engineering shop should be able to do it. Just give it to them complete and tell them it has to go back the same way it came apart, with no slag/splatter in the axle splines or the mating faces. once its done pull it apart again and religiulously clean everything and double check for splatter. If thats all good reassemble and fill with oil. then robert will be your mums sibling.
  8. bcc Twilight khana/motorkhana at bagshot is on saturday week iirc
  9. Nah mate its long gone. Thanks for having a look. Much appreciated
  10. Hey guys, nearly ready to get my AE82 on the road but ive got a problem with the fuel tank getting pressurised and pushing fuel past the fuel pump (car is on duel fuel) and hence running like shit. Ive had the tank out and made sure all the lines are clear. The charcoal canister isnt blocked etc. Basically ive traced it back to the purge valve. Now the purge valve does work, but I'm wondering if anyone knows what tells it to turn on and off? I'm thinking one of the vacuum solenoids, but I'm not sure which one. So if someone knows it would be much appreciated. I can then much around with vacuum ports to modify the way it works. Oh btw ive tried leaving disconnecting it so the purge valve stays open all the time but the car runs rough and stalls so i don't really consider it a viable solution. Thanks guys, cameron.
  11. as jimmy said, its a fair bit longer than a regular autocross. think more like a rallysprint. normal autocross' don't require cage. and atm BCC doesnt require helmets for motorkhanas.
  12. just a reminder, the BCC long course autocross is this sunday. I'm entered, in a galant unfortunately (the corolla doesnt have a cage). forcast: WET :)
  13. sorry dude, just went out to take a photo for you but my phone batteries too flat to take the photo. will have a pic for ya by 7pmish tomorrow if someone doesnt beat me to it.
  14. pfffft. minor issues. the bcc lost my cams lincence in march, and still havent found it. ill be fuxed if I'm paying for it twice. the membership sec has put an astrix next to my name so i can't race again until ive sorted it.
  15. you can have a go in my car if ya want?
  16. awesome mate, come on over :) we are down on numbers atm so we need all the people there we can get. its good having low numbers as you saw because we got 8 runs instead of the usual 5-6.
  17. not tryin to make excuses mate, just lettin ya know how it went down. come back out for the next race and i shall try to be first rolla home for once :D
  18. you talking bout spanna's? didnt realise it wasnt originally a T! cool info btw parrot. had no idea
  19. nup. had 5 when i bought it. ive now got 2.5 or 3.5 in it iirc, and no rear bar.. TBH i havent spent a cent on the whole car since i bought it so its not suprising its not great to drive. don't worry I'm not complaining.. its shitloads of fun to drive and very rewarding when you get it right.
  20. my ke25 has ke30 leaves in it (may or maynot have been converted, I'm not sure) but if it hasnt, ke3/5x springs should be easy to source compared to ke2x springs..
  21. arsehole!! :) yeah i was having some major issues on the day. *insert motorsport excuses here* the car doesnt handle at the best of times, but i was having more trouble than usual on the day. turns out id left the tyres at 28psi. turned the rears down to 22psi and it was like a new car. unfortunately i did that on the 2nd last test as i was busy helping a few juniors and keeping my mate entertained. add to the fact i decided to take an agressive apporach to the day, i ended up spinning 5 times and hitting a cone (cone was completely my fault) /motorsport excuses parrot, if you don't believe me your more than welcome to have a go at my car at any race :) goes well in a straight line, problem is keeping it straight lol!
  22. yeah not sure tbh, just read other "bike carbs onto car motor" threads over the years which mentioned some don't come with accelerator pumps. daves calculations were based on a 4k, not a 5k. you would think the carbs would be too small, but remember, pretty much every bike head from the 60's/70's will be more efficient than a K head. like i said before, something around 34/36mm or 32ish mm in a flatslide or barrel would do the job nicely imho. i think most bike carbs this size were on 1L+ bikes.
  23. bendigo car club.. 22 july - ladies and junior day @ bagshot 5 august - long course autocross @ bagshot 18/19 ausgust - vic off road championships @ bagshot 8 september - twilight autocross + motorkhana @ bagshot 22 september - victorian motorkhana championship @ huntly livestock exchange 20/21 october - classic/vintage hillclimb @ mt tarrengower (maldon) 7 october - HRA rally sprint @ bagshot 11 november - autocross @ bagshot 8 december - xmas dash @ huntly livestock exchange.
  24. i havent had a close look at a corolla interior light, but most of the ones ive seen have constant 12v. the earth when the switch is in the door postition goes to the little earth switches you have in the photos. when the switch is in the constant on position, there is a circuit that goes to the mounting screws that earths on the body, hence no extra wiring for this position.
