  1. been to *most* karting tracks in melbourne. imho F1 (south morang) owns all the others ive been to. ace karts imho is the most over rated track in the southern hemisphere. having said that id still go even if it was at ace karts to get my arse handed to me :P
  2. my rolla isnt looking good unfortunately. got the exhaust done last week, and she started cookin, all the symptoms pointed to a headgasket. so i tore her apart on the weekend and low and behold it was perfect! now you'd think id be able to get a VRS kit piece of piss.. but alas, its due tomorrow. so finish it off tomorrow night. inspection friday. rego monday, but plates will likely be a week :( now mazda 2 or landrover?
  3. i hope to be there. might be late though as my engagement party is the night before :bash:
  4. there are still heaps of rover V8's + gearboxes around if you know where to look. i don't know why you'd bother tbh. i was looking into these a few years ago. with the usual mods that make a typical motor fly (ie mild cam, carb and inlet, good exhaust, decent comp etc) they only make 240-250hp. for not much more than a worked rover conversion you;d be able to pick up a wrecked 2WD hilux or aurion etc and use the 1/2GRFE motor and make much more power. with an exhaust i think they'd sound sexy too.
  5. what reg was it?
  6. yep and it would be a hell of a lot of fun through the forest! mmm turbo'd beams ke25 ftw
  7. some locksmiths will do that for you. if they are worth the salt they should have all the tools on hand to get it out. however callouts are usually an expensive experience. is the door unlocked? locks are easy to remove, id give that a go if at all possible
  8. theres 2 typees or early disc front ends. VF had the solid discs you speak of. and like you said better than drums VG had the same vented front discs as the VH, just with early pattern. then of course theres the willwood / hoppers kits etc. BUMP---- is this finished yet and making woooooooooooooosh yet jarrad?
  9. don't worry stu.. only givin ya a ribbing  ill 2nd taz_rx though.. definately give her a run down the strip, even just as a base line for the new setup. oh and take vids!
  10. if its in a historic class electronic ignition might not be allowed. if not look into twin points conversions.
  11. it would help if you actually drove yours on the street first stu :P
  12. putting an older motor in a newer car is legal, so long as it complies with emissions from the year the car (or engine, whatever is newer). proving it complies though is quite expensive and is why no one usually bothers.
  13. that sounds like a good conversion you have made. how much power do those fiat diffs handle, and whats the availability of different gears, lsds etc? did you have to shorten the diff to fit it in the ke2x? oh which bmw diff do you speak of? everything i can think of since the 60's has had irs, and been fairly weak.
  14. no, ke70 axles are too long, centres different etc. brakes can be modded to fit, but if your going to that trouble you may aswell upgrade to a stronger diff at the same time. i don't know of any strong diffs that are the right length to bolt in. most people usually go borg warner 78, F series or G series toyota. another option to look at would be nissan h190
  15. id be looking at another block if that one hasnt been machined yet. they come up fairly often for around $50-$100. as long as your not after a virgin block with good bores. otherwise i agree with trev, blocks don't get a massive thermal load compared to something like a turbo,id trust it to hold after a weld. so if you can find someone thats ace at cast iron welding get them to fix it before doing any further work to the block.
  16. you read my mind. i printed off a parts list for the bellhousing today, however i left it at work :no2: they use an a42?? so I'm guessing its a modified version of the AE71 box? will do some more research tomorrow
  17. if I'm right, they arent a fullsize trimatic. kinda like a scaled down version.
  18. of course if moneys no object you could adapt anything to anything. in real life its not really practical / expensive to adapt some stuff to something rarely heavily modified such as a K motor. as for autos, i believe the 3 speed used in ke3x- is a baby trimatic? also used in geminis. if so people have modified them before to handle some good power. so that might be the go. if your a little more ambitious there may be a possibilty a K motor somewhere using the A34x series autos. i don't have any info on it yet but I'm looking. they would be a great auto to adapt, but may need floorpan mods in a corolla
  19. so no 3k + gt45 + 200hp n2o for spooling then? :blinks:
  20. no it doesnt really make sense. you seem to be the only person in the world that considers nitrous "N/A". every class in the world classes nitrous as forced induction. so it looks like you have created yourself a one make, one person series lolz.
  21. well if your allowed nos, i should be allowed turbo :rolls: otherwise, i think you might be struggling to get active participants to spend bucket loads of money over a little competition
  22. I'm kinda thinking of giving this challenge a go.. but not N/A, thats too expensive. I'm thinking dodgy half arsed backyarder turbo conversion. already have most of the bits i need so why not!
  23. they sometimes come up on toymods, here and ebay. otherwise you'll have to start hitting up the wreckers. thats a bit odd if its done that straight after a head reco. maybe put it back on the engine shop to supply another?
  24. oh bloody hell i thought it was this weekend!! now i know why there were more classic cars than usual passing through
