Zoidburg Posted April 27, 2010 Report Posted April 27, 2010 Hi everyone, Recently put a factory twin carb manifold on my 3K engine, but cannot see where the brake booster hose is supposed to go on the manifold. It appears my old hose is no longer long enough and I may need a different type. Does anybody know where it's meant to go on these things? Thanks Quote
philbey Posted April 27, 2010 Report Posted April 27, 2010 twincarbs came off KE1x's with no brake booster. The long and short of it is that you don't have a port for it. Quote
Taz_Rx Posted April 27, 2010 Report Posted April 27, 2010 Just drill and taps some holes to put some brass fitting in and away you go. I'd probably do both set of runners (1&2, 3&4) and T-piece them together but this isn't completely neccessary. Quote
philbey Posted April 28, 2010 Report Posted April 28, 2010 I'm guessing he's got it on the car now so it's a manifold remove job to drill and tap. As Taz said, I don't think it's necessary to tap and tee into both sets of runners. Quote
camerondownunder88 Posted April 28, 2010 Report Posted April 28, 2010 NO NO NO NO Twin carbie manis were also on later KE's with a brake booster hole in runner 4. Not needed to drill holes on all 4 runners. But id post it up in the for sale section for a swap... A KE1X twin mani with no holes would look great back on a KE1X with no holes. Up to you I guess But I would try to swap it for a later manifold for twins so brake booster etc all reay there for you. Cheers Cameron Quote
Zoidburg Posted April 28, 2010 Author Report Posted April 28, 2010 Hmmm, There appears to be a hole for the booster hose but it's on the wrong end, and it's been blocked. There's also a welsh plug sitting where the booster hose usually goes on the other end of the manifold (near the firewall). So therefore I decided to do a "dodgy"... I stuck a hose onto where the PCV line normally goes, as it's literally the ONLY hole on this manifold. The brakes work as they did before and there does'nt appear to be any negative side effects. I then put a little air filter on top of the PCV thingy. Dodgy I know, but it works fine and that's the main thing! Thanks Quote
