Don't use the actual 5k head bolts, use some 3k or 4k ones. I can't remember the exact reason but the 5k ones are similar to 'torque to yeild' bolts and the threads can stretch. 3/4k ones don't.

I find it a bit hard to believe you can't get a genuine 5k gasket through Toyota. Did you ask for a KM36 liteace HG or were you asking them for a '5k head gasket for a corolla'? If you said corolla thats where they may have got confused. We actually have a member here who works in a Toyota parts department in my home city. I'll PM you his username. Maybe try sending him a message and ask for the part number (as I know he knows what they are - He ordered me one 18 months ago) then contact your local Toyota parts department and tell them you want a P/N XXXXX. ;)

And like I've told you before, if you want to boost this motor I would also recommend sourcing some ARP head studs for piece of mind. ;)

i know theres no such thing as a 5k corolla engine, i was asking for the 5K liteace, but nowhere in victor harbor orders genuine toyota parts, just aftermarket.

i couldnt be bothered driving to adelaide just for that so i went with aftermarket.

Nothing wrong with ACL Monotorque head gaskets. I'd steer away from the cheaper Ezi-Fit ones though.

I also run the earlier headbolts on my late 4k and 5k.

Yes there is, but Australia never got it!!

It came out in a KE70 in Malaysia with a 5k.

After market head gaskets are ok, just don't forget to re-torque the head!!!
