Alternator Issue

Featured Replies

i just got my alternator back from the auto electricians for a reco and it charged at 14.0 volts for about 2 weeks

and now the weird thing is it only charges as the revs climb and when the car idles its usless

what could be the problem (regulator) btw its for my ke55 coupe

How tight is the belt?

If you suspect a faulty alternator then take it back.

the belts at the right tension i think its just a faulty job hes already rip me off 135 bucks ill just cut my losses.

ill look for a different alternator somewhere else.

I would be taking it back but that is me.

take it back!

14v at the battery or the back of the alternator? put full electrical load on then check voltage at the back at the alternator then compair it to the battery.

if your getting 14.5v at the alternator and only 13.8 at the battery means the alternator charging wire (those piss weak 2mm wires) have high resistance in them or dirty contact
