james87 Posted October 22, 2010 Report Posted October 22, 2010 hey, I'm new. yes i tried searching. i played with dattos . never touched a toyota until yesterday. bought a ke55 sedan 4k auto the best i could find didnt help , i don't mind if this thread gets ko'd as long as someone can help me along as in using and how to find across the site if not front suspension ( coilovers ) front disc upgrade and engine conversion now with these i have seen threads but they don't exactly explain to a noob :( prefer 5k motor or a 4age RWD ( mr2 ) and possibly the diff if its needed i have no idea .. the hilux rear axle thread is useless ..... though sounds good.. please help Quote
towe001 Posted October 22, 2010 Report Posted October 22, 2010 front suspension ( coilovers ) front disc upgrade RT104 Corona for a good brake upgrade, but you'll also have to change spring seats or something for them to fit the '55. But, since your planning on coil-overs that bit wont really matter. You'll still need the upper bearing plate (the part that bolts the strut to the body) changed over to the '55 one and you'll also need the steering arm from the corona. You will not need the lower control arms from the corona, their the same as the '55. and engine conversion now with these i have seen threads but they don't exactly explain to a noob :( prefer 5k motor or a 4age RWD ( mr2 ) and possibly the diff if its needed i have no idea .. the hilux rear axle thread is useless ..... though sounds good.. please help 5K would be the easiest to swap in - same engine mounts, gearbox, etc etc. 4age will need the engine mounts modified. Thats the only thing off the top of my head, but there will be more i'm sure. Like the fuel injection wiring. Hi-lux diff might be over kill. Quote
Undertaker_is_the_best Posted October 24, 2010 Report Posted October 24, 2010 4age will require as mentioned above will need the following just helping you out by the way i havent done this conversion but i was in the process of helping my mate before he decided to change plans .engine mounts .Ae71 or possible t-18 T50 gearbox which will require a custom crossmember for it .Ae71 peddal box because its hydraulic and the gearbox is hydraulic .custom tailshaft using the spline of the Ae71 tailshaft with the 55 rear or just one custom one made up to suit .loom for the 4age will need to be taken in to a place with the 55 one and merged together to form the one loom without changing the igintion and gauges .fuel set definitly need a fuel pump either inline or intank with a surge tank .custom radiator and themo fans for the cooling system .4age computer .engineers certificate to pass the conversion not sure if you will have to change the diff but you might have 2 because of the power it might be stronger than the stock diff but then again might not if anyone can add or tell me if i have missed anything or if i am wrong but i am pretty sure that i am accurate on this info thats all i can think of with that but like previously said the 5k is an easier conversion it really depends is it going to be a daily or is it for some more than that 4age has more power then the 5k but its something you got to way up when it comes to what you want the car to do Quote

james87 Posted October 26, 2010 Author Report Posted October 26, 2010 cheers mate ok so far - btw i am doing this all in work hours O_o i have 5k engine ( to get then rebuild ) - ke70 manual gearbox( mines auto so the whole lot clutch setup ) to probably some sort of disc brake rear axle and diff that can take the crap ill give as a daily driver - hoony :P and to suit : a custom tailshaft plus the coilovers and bigger but not to much choppy choppy brakes. but FIRST i have to make the whole car un stickerable goddamn canaries so ill be fixing the horn and one fuel/thermostat tacho cos they keep dropping out - together so its the connections or wiring ... so what 5-10 k ... i think ... sigh and ive only 1 k in cash atm hopefully that to get the engine and a rebuild and into my car with a gearbox to suit as is tailshaft and diff. haha Quote
james87 Posted October 28, 2010 Author Report Posted October 28, 2010 (edited) okay. have decided 1.am going to rebuild carby on 4k motor in car and restore the car so can't be stickered 2. get a hold of a 5k motor and rebuild the whole thing 3. do coilovers and bigger discs on front. 4.transfer 5k into ke55 and take out 4k motor 4k 3pd auto will fit 5k ? to find out 5.get a bigger stronger auto gearbox that fits - research further later - t50 ? or w55 ? whatever . 5.1. drop something like an r31 diff and axles for the strength and rear discs 6. convert to manual thats not to hard .... right ? every 1 can laugh @ me now ;P Edited October 28, 2010 by james87 Quote
james87 Posted November 23, 2010 Author Report Posted November 23, 2010 been a while I'm dead broke :( GOT A 32/36 HOLLEY and ordered a lynx adaptor plate get that tomorrow sourced OUT A FEW BROKEN AND MISSING PARTS MISSING CHROME, button, working on the horn and bonnet latch just need to order 2 tyres after that and then i have a SAFE car - not stickerable still trying to find a 5k motor hopefully with a 4spd auto box ... anyone ?
