TOMsGPTurbo Posted October 22, 2010 Report Posted October 22, 2010 Hey guys n girls. About 10mins ago, I was beaten by my Astra >| I thought I'll do a wheel rotation, as the rear wheels haven't been replaced in a year or so, so I jacked it up, unscrewed all the lug nuts and attempted to pull the wheel off the hub. It wouldn't budge! I'm not a small kid, I'm 110kg, solid build and resonable fit. I smashed the shit out of the wheel and it didn't budge no matter what I did. I even lowered the car back onto the ground without lug nuts and it didn't make a difference to break free. Any ideas? Also, I'm after some new tyres, any ideas for some quiet cheap performance tyers that will get good miles? I'm in Brisbane  Quote
Evan G Posted October 22, 2010 Report Posted October 22, 2010 try kiciking the shit out of it from the inside, throwing the spare wheel at it Quote
TOMsGPTurbo Posted October 22, 2010 Author Report Posted October 22, 2010 Should I just buy new tyres and let the shop deal with it ? :rolls: Quote
Evan G Posted October 22, 2010 Report Posted October 22, 2010 could do that or you could go ape shit and hopefully remove it. Quote
GJM85 Posted October 22, 2010 Report Posted October 22, 2010 (edited) I've got an astra. the wheel nuts have the wheels studs on them. there are no studs on the hub. it's backwards german crap. leave the wheel nuts half screwed in and take a big hammer or lump of 4X2 to the inside of the rim whilst rotating it. it will eventually give in. as for a good tyre budget tyres.... CHEN SHAN all the way! You won't find them at good tyre dealers. You'll need to to go budget tyre dealer and at $89 for a 195x50 R15, you can't go wrong. NB: budget rubber equals good smoke.... philbey Posted October 22, 2010 Report Posted October 22, 2010 I've got an astra. the wheel nuts have the wheels studs on them. there are no studs on the hub. it's backwards german crap. The japs at Mazda did it long before the astra was built Quote
gmack Posted October 22, 2010 Report Posted October 22, 2010 There's a couple of ways to fix it. 1: Loosen the nuts and go for a short drive around the block to knock the wheels loose. 2: Use a MAP gas torch to heat around the centric ring and carefully bash the wheel off from behind. A wheel shop will do one of those two, so you might as well save the money and do it yourself. Quote
