3Tc Into Corolla 4Ac

Hey was wondering if i could throw a 3tc out of a 1980 corolla into a 1982 corolla sr5 with the 4ac an if not what modifactions will i have to make thanks.

As much as I love the 3t in my T18 if you already have a 4ac it would be easier to put in a 4age.

4age came out in JDM ae86 otherwise you could just use a 4age from a FWD AE82 corolla or AE92 corolla as well (I think)

 

Otherwise if you end up going 3tc tell me how you did it because I want a steering rack and heard that if you use 3t engine mounts on a ae71 (4ac) crossmember it all bolts in.

you use t18 engine mounts on an ae71 crossmember it bolts straight into the car then there is only little annoying things

true so if I get a ae71 crossmember I can bolt that straight in and ill pretty much have a bolt in steering rack conversion.

I'm not overly familiar with the SR5. Is your car originally steering box'ed? if so, would you then need a ae71 steering column?

If i get it out of a FWD car can i use that tranny with an adapter to go to rwd not sure on this thanks though for the help so far.

What do you mean get what out of a front wheel drive car bud?? As far as i'm aware 3t engines only came out in a t18 and i dunno i think there te72's over in the states and there all rwd, which all you would need to do is take the motor and box out of it, grab the t18 engine mounts and dump it into your car and see if it fits and then custom tailshaft,

 

Or just go buy a whole car as a donor and then just pull the motor and box out of both cars and swap them and see if it works

I was told that u can take a 4age out of a front wheel drive ae92 but what tranny would i have to use could i use the stock 3tc tranny or would i have to get the one from a 4age or is there a way to adapt the FWD tranny for a RWD

t40/50 with an A series bellhousing will fit behind a 4age with no dramas :)

any 4age will bolt to your current engine mounts with your current gearbox. you can even reuse the FWD clutch with your current gearbox.

 

4age came in the ae86 GTS, some ae82, ae92 FWD corolla, aw11 MR2. then these also 4agze from ae92/aw11 and 20valve versions from ae101/ae111 corolla. the 20v will be the most difficult to swap due to the factory distributor arrangement.

 

i don't think factory 4age models (GTS) are expensive over there? unless the SR5 is a super tidy one and you can do basically all the work yourself you should save the hassle and buy a proper one.

I did some searching around an found here in the states the 4age was put in ah geo storm if I'm not mistaken its a efi DOHC 16v 1.6 right? here a pic of the one that comes in the storm
