jimmy-d Posted December 17, 2010 Report Posted December 17, 2010 Ok,so I know the difference between ke70(k series parts)and ae71(a series parts)but what is the ACTUAL difference in front crossmembers? Is it engine mount location on the crossmember, the bracing plate inside the engine mounts on a ke70 or the shape of the mount? What is the real physical difference that makes them so unsuitable for the 4age conversion? Yes I searched it but did not get the answers that I'm looking for! Quote
beerhead Posted December 17, 2010 Report Posted December 17, 2010 Medicine man should have a photo of a pair side by side. As the K motor is slant and the A motor is upright the passenger side mount is higher and skewed to suit the lean of the motor. You could make custom mounts or get KP61 Techo toy tuning mounts to make it work though. Quote
SLW42 Posted December 17, 2010 Report Posted December 17, 2010 here is a picture of both together the red one is ke and the black ae, i know it's not the best but you can see the difference Quote
jimmy-d Posted December 17, 2010 Author Report Posted December 17, 2010 Thanks for that,so my understanding is that the difference is entirely in the inclination/construction of the engine mounts. Regards Pete. Quote
19914afc Posted December 17, 2010 Report Posted December 17, 2010 is there any difference between T18 xmember and AE71? apart from the T18 having a steering box instead of rack. Quote
beerhead Posted December 17, 2010 Report Posted December 17, 2010 Have a search for "bitten of more than I can chew" - something like that A dude in tassy who was restoring an TE70 2 door. He had a play with this idea, but from memory I think the A motor bolts onto the crossmember with the T rubber mounts, but the gearbox xmember doesn't line up and will need mods afterward. Quote
