AE94 Driver Posted December 26, 2010 Report Posted December 26, 2010 Hi all, new here. I have a 1992 Toyota Corolla CSi Twincam AE94 sedan. It has a 4A-FE engine and a 4 speed auto (3 speed, plus overdrive switch on lever). It doesn't have a tacho on the dashboard, however it has the fuel guage and temperature guage in the right hand "big circle" where the tacho exists on other versions. I am wondering, is it possible to simply replace the cluster with a tacho, and do I have to modify any wiring to make it work? I have recently been offered a aftermarket tacho, so I don't know if that is better instead or what. Thanks in advance. :) Quote
Trev Posted December 26, 2010 Report Posted December 26, 2010 Should be just able to put the tacho dash in. Quote
AE94 Driver Posted December 26, 2010 Author Report Posted December 26, 2010 Should be just able to put the tacho dash in. So I guess that the tacho will work when I hook it up, does the tacho use a cable to connect the engine or is it an electrical signal? :) Quote
TRD ke70 Posted December 26, 2010 Report Posted December 26, 2010 Electrical signal from the coil, cables are for OLD diesels!! Quote

(Only just noticed this post) Ah I knew where I got the cable for the tacho from - I read an ancient car book when I was a little kid and it showed how everything in a car worked, and it had a cable operated tacho. :laff: Quote
