Felix Posted October 11, 2005 Report Posted October 11, 2005 you could probably acquire another 4k for less than the price toyota would want for a set of headbolts. Quote
Super Jamie Posted October 11, 2005 Report Posted October 11, 2005 i have priced them. you can. Quote
boofis Posted October 11, 2005 Author Report Posted October 11, 2005 Hey guys Thanks for your help. I'll go hide in my noob shell and read the manual  But seriously I'll go do some reading, my explaining skills are very poor. and I'll buy an engine lol. Thanks Troy Quote
Felix Posted October 12, 2005 Report Posted October 12, 2005 the socket you used, is it a 6 or 12 point? depending on how bad they are... sometimes you can clean up a rounded bolt head a bit and then get them out with a good 6 point socket. or maybe even a metrinch socket as they put the force on the flats of the bolt head hex, not the corners. boofis Posted October 12, 2005 Author Report Posted October 12, 2005 I used a 12 point. This might turn out to be a good thing....get the 4k out and actually put some $$ in for a conversion. Thanks Troy Quote
Dan Posted October 12, 2005 Report Posted October 12, 2005 Before you go all out on a new motor, give it a chance by using a 6 point socket, so it can get a grip on the bolt head some more. No point wasting the whole 4k when you didn't even bother trying something different... And I think that if it were to be metric it would be a 14mm, is it 9/16 Imperial that you are using? Or maybe your socket is f@$ked? Cheers, Dan. Quote
Redwarf Posted October 12, 2005 Report Posted October 12, 2005 Another option are Metrinch sockets. They grip on the flats, not on the edges. I've got some really trashed bolts out with metrinch sockets. R Quote
boofis Posted October 14, 2005 Author Report Posted October 14, 2005 Sweet I'll give it a try. See that's the thing, with the 9/16 I tried it didn't fit =) So I tried the 14mm so I'm going to assume they may have been replaced :(? Going to get some multi grips on to it. Thanks Troy Quote
Dan Posted October 14, 2005 Report Posted October 14, 2005 Noooo... not the Multigrips!!! 9/16 and 14 mm are almost the same, did you try 11/16 or 15mm or? Quote
