It has 4 main wires, red,black, green & white. 2 small orange & 2 small brown wires. and 2 black wires together with a plug on the end. The 2 small orange and 2 small brown are actually the cylinder selector, how many cylinders has the car got that you are putting it into? And yes the black plug is for the shift light. Thanks man No dramas, I have done a few autometer tacho installs so you get to remember the wiring but I can't remember what wire you cut for 6 cylinder. 8 cylinder - orange joined to orange, brown to brown. 6 cylinder - pretty sure you cut the orange one (been a while since I did a 6 install). 4 cylinder - cut both wires just how yours is so just wire it up and go. Also, if you wanna tidy the wiring up on the back of it you can undo the 3 nuts on the rear and tuck the selector wires into the back of the tacho.
