st.nick Posted October 22, 2005 Report Posted October 22, 2005 3k head This could be a bargain... Gonna be pretty high compression me thinks. :harhar: Quote
Super Jamie Posted October 22, 2005 Report Posted October 22, 2005 "never been ported" - this means the opposite of "high performance" :harhar: it might be a bigport (you'd have to ask him if it's got a welsch plug or the plate on the back), but still, it's still got crappy early retainers and stem seals, you'd be better just shaving a 4k-c head for compression Quote
kangaroosa Posted October 22, 2005 Report Posted October 22, 2005 He paid over $500 originally for it. I would have expected it to be complete, and ported for that amount of money. Quote
Super Jamie Posted October 23, 2005 Report Posted October 23, 2005 yeah people say that, but i'm yet to see one done that cheap my bigport was f@$ked when i got it, requiring welding and so many helicoils, plus standard reco stuff and changing over to 4k valves and gear and that cost me $630. i ported it myself xany, how much did all the final porting and bigvalve work on your head cost? kangaroosa Posted October 23, 2005 Report Posted October 23, 2005 My 3K big port head cost me $800 to have done. Fortunately it was in Excellent condition. The water jackets were near perfect. I paid to have the work done to mine which included all the necessary machining including rocker surfaces, Dual Valve Springs, Larger Valves, Race Port and flow bench tests before and after. That seems to be the going price in my area. Quote
